Alejandra Ghersi, better known as her stage name Arca, is a Venezuelan musician, singer, composer, DJ, record producer and mixing engineer who performs a mixture of genres which include electronic, experimental, avant-pop, and industrial hip-hop. Arca was born in Caracas, Venezuela, and while growing up, Arca was privately educated and took piano lessons which led her to love music. As a teenager, Arca began releasing her own music under the name of Nuuro, and began gaining attention in her home country. Around this time she also worked with La Vida Boheme and later went on to study at the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music at NYU. Shortly after, Arca went on to release her debut EP, “Baron Libre,” and followed that up with two more EPs, “Stretch 1” and “Stretch 2.” As a producer, Arca has worked with Kanye West, Bjork, Kelela, FKA Twigs, Frank Ocean, and more.
