It’s the most wonderful time of the year at Walt Disney World, with a number of large-scale holiday events found throughout the resort: Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party in the Magic Kingdom, the Epcot International Festival of the Holidays, and the Flurry of Fun at Hollywood Studios. However, these spectaculars are not the only way to enjoy the season while visiting the parks. There are a number of slightly more low-key happenings as well. Over the next couple weeks, let’s pay a visit to a few others ways you can enjoy the season at Walt Disney World.

1. Disney Springs’ Christmas Tree Trail

From November 8-January 6, visitors to Disney Springs can take a stroll through the Christmas Tree Trail located in Disney Springs. The walking tour features music, fake snow, and trees decorated in a variety of Disney themes (including Alice In Wonderland, Toy Story, The Haunted Mansion, Mary Poppins, The Princess and the Frog, Tangled, and, of course, Mickey and Minnie Mouse). There’s no charge to walk the trail, and it is open from 11 a.m. – 11 p.m. Saturday through Sunday.

2. Stitch’s Holiday Gift Hunt

Disney Springs is also the home to a free scavenger hunt featuring everyone’s favorite, mischief making extra-terrestrial. Like the Tree Trail, the event runs November 8-January 6 and is free (while supplies last). Guests pick up a Holiday Gift Booklet, which features a map, clues, and stickers. The scavenger hunt will require you to decipher the clues, which will lead you to 18 participating locations throughout Disney Springs. Your mission is to help Stitch locate the gifts he plans on giving his family. Complete the entire hunt, and you’ll receive a prize (limit one per booklet).

3. Disney’s Grand Floridian Gingerbread House

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Grand Floridian Hotel’s massive gingerbread house. The house sits in the hotel’s lobby, This enormous construction is awe inspiring, using over 1,000 lbs. of honey, 800 lbs. of flour, 600 lbs. of chocolate, 600 lbs. of sugar, and over 5,000 gingerbread shingles. The chimney even puffs candy “smoke.” You can purchase your own gingerbread shingles, peppermint bark, and more at the house, which is open from 10 a.m.- 10 p.m. daily. There’s no cost to visit the display, but if you want to purchase some goodies, be prepared to wait in line!

4. The Beach Club Gingerbread Carousel

Disney’s Beach Club resort is home to a large gingerbread carousel. The theme changes each year, and this year it features Donald and Daisy. The carousel is made of 36 lbs. of honey, 96 lbs. of flour, 100 pints of eggs, 150 lbs. of icing, 100 lbs. of chocolate, 200 gum paste flowers, and over 2000 pieces of gingerbread. There are even 19 hidden Mickeys hidden on it! While visiting, you can purchase a limited edition Gingerbread Carousel Pin.

5. Yacht Club Train Display

Walt Disney World’s Yacht Club resort sits next door to the Beach Club and is home to its own fun holiday display: the Yacht Club Train Display. The free exhibit features a large model train and a village (complete with businesses named after restaurants in the resort). Make sure to walk all the way around the train display, as it features details and surprises on all sides.
